IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

As Owner/Manager of Artisan Leather, I am very sorry to announce that we will be

CLOSED until early October.

I have been taken ill and need major surgery, followed by a long period of recovery.

We will re-open as soon as we possibly can, but this temporary closure is sadly unavoidable.

Thank you for your understanding. Kind Regards, Kathy Dyke.

A strop is used for the final stage in sharpening a knife blade.  These are made from a wooden base which has a leather section attached on both sides, one side with the smooth grain side facing outwards, and one side with the slightly rougher flesh side showing.

A strop can be used with valve grinding paste (carborundum paste) or with jeweller's rouge to provide the abrasion needed to bring a keen edge to your blade.

This is the larger of two sizes, with a leather area of 75 x 170mm (3" x 6.75") and an overall length of 310mm (12.25 inches)
