This is a 30x60cm panel of undyed vegetable tanned cowhide.
Carefully tanned using time honoured methods, this leather has a firm, even texture, a beautifully smooth surface and a tidy flesh side.
At 1.2-1.4mm thick, this lightweight leather is perfect for making wallets and similar small items, but if you want to carve we'd recommend choosing a heavier weight.
Undyed veg tan is great for wet moulding as its fibres become malleable when dampened with warm water.
It's also very receptive to leather dyes and acrylic paints and can be treated with a surface finish such as Resolene once dyed.
