These handy emery boards are used to sand down the cut edges of heavy leathers after stitching, so that several layers of leather blend together smoothly, especially once polished with gum tragacanth. This is an important part of the finishing process in many leathercraft projects, particularly items like knife sheaths where there are often 3 layers of leather sewn together, with a very visible edge to the finished product.
These sanding sticks are double sided, 17.5cm (7") long, and have approximately an 80 grit surface.
